SECURING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

The King’s Ginger is a brand rooted in legacy and the greatest legacy we must pass down to the generations is a sustainable future. As such, we believe it is vital to integrate sustainability at every stage of our business decisions. As the King’s Ginger brand and the spirits industry has evolved our sustainability credentials and assessment of our environmental impact has gained an even greater sense of urgency. That’s why we have been working behind the scenes to review every stage of our supply chain and our positive contribution to establish exactly where we are, where we need to be and how we are going to get there.

We are working to become the most socially and environmentally responsible brand we can be. In the interest of honest transparency, here is an overview of where we are currently, some of the recent progress we have made and some areas that we are working to improve.

Packaging.

In 2020 we released our new bottle along with a reformulated recipe for The King’s Ginger. Every element of our new King’s Ginger bottle has been considered with sustainability in mind and is entirely recyclable - including the heat shrink wrap, which is commonly made with single use plastic.

Our glass bottle is made from 40% recycled content and the paper used on our bottle is 100% recycled FSC certified paper. Unlike general 'recycled' claims, which require no verification, the FSC Recycled label provides assurance that all the wood or paper in a product has been verified as genuinely recycled.

We are constantly looking at feasible ways that we can reduce our environmental impact, recently repatriating production back to the United Kingdom, reducing our average pack miles by 91%.

The King’s Ginger is proud to support The Prince’s Countryside Fund by donating 10% of our profits to the Fund. We are also a proud member of ‘1% for the Planet’.

The vision of The Prince’s Countryside Fund is of a confident, robust and sustainable agricultural and rural community which is universally appreciated for its vital contribution to our British way of life and fit to support future generations.

Established by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2010, The Prince’s Countryside Fund exists to improve the prospects of family farm businesses and the quality of rural life.

Partners.

Our production and supply partners are an extension of our team. We have built strong, transparent relationships with our production partners so that we can ensure sustainably practices and guarantee consistent quality. This transparency gives us the visibly to work together and help identify areas to improve our environmental impact.

We are working with our partners to reduce plastic on pallet wrapping, sealing cases and delivery of dry goods. We ask our production partners to provide up to date sustainability credentials which are assessed against our sustainability charter and prerequisites.
